Nowruz (Newruz, Nourooz, Norooz & Nevruz ) in Kurdish means New day/year. It is the beginning of the year for the Kurdish People, peoples of Greater Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Central Asian Republics. It is celebrated as the New Year by the Kurds in the neighboring countries of Iran, Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Georgia.
Nowruz is a joyful occasion marking the ending of winter and the reawakening of nature, is celebrated across a vast region from largely Kurdish areas of northern Iraq and Turkey to central Asian countries and western China.[Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and India.]
It also marks the beginning of a new calendar year in Iran, and is the biggest holiday on the Iran's calendar.
It begins precisely with the beginning of spring on vernal equinox, on or about March 21. Tradition takes Norooz as far back as 15,000 years--before the last ice age.

نوروز، روژا نو، جشني با تاريخ چند هزار ساله:
از ديدگاه نجومي ، نوروز زمان اعتدال ربيعي يعني هنگامي است كه خورشيد روي مدار استوا قرار مي گيرد و روز و شب برابر است.نوروز زماني است كه طبيعت از خواب زمستان بيدار شده و زندگي را از نو آغاز مي كند. نوروز، زيباترين جشن ميان همه اقوام، کردها، پارس ها، افغانيها، آذريها، ملل آسيای میانه و ... بوده و بهترين مبدا براي آغاز سال است.
